Project Management Japan

Stagehands Office in Tokyo with new Project Management Branch

In preparation to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Stagehands.net expands its business to project management for non local customers.

Organization of event equipment, communication with local suppliers for customers coming from abroad to Japan will be the main part of this offer. The new business is managed by former PRG project manager Bernd Erbs.

“Over the years, we have received repeatedly requests from customers who need equipment for their events. Our customers told us about communication problems in Japan, which are based not only on a linguistic, but also on a cultural level. Bernd Erbs, who has been living in Tokyo for 20 years, speaks perfect Japanese, German and English and knows the local Japanese event industry. Bernd will accompany and advise our customers on their projects in Japan. We look forward to the new responsibilities in Japan and will soon launch an equal branch  in our Paris office, “says Stagehands.net Managing Director Patrick Harnisch.

Inquiries for Japan are coordinated via the Berlin headquarters of Stagehands.net

When in Rome …

Stagehands crew supporting german event company in Italy,

This time Il Palazzo Dei Congressi was host to one of our supported events of one of our german customers. The Palazzo was built from 1938 to 1954, delayed by WWII. Later on it was used in the olympic games and is still in use for actual events and projects.

We were happy to support one of our german customers with Stagehands crew to load, unload and set up the event. Stagehands.net supports event companies going to Italy for 20 years now, not only in Rome but also in Bologna and Milan.

Stagehands.net ready for the new year.

The stagehands.net-team ready for new major projects in 2018.

The New Year brings many new winds, work and new projects for the Stagehands.net-team. As the weather is still set on winter-mode at our Berlin headquarters alternating between heavy snowfall and rain, the weather is more forgiving, staying bright, sunny and sparkly fresh for our French team in Cannes, who finished last year with a bang in preparation for the New Year.

Speaking to our French regional manager Cormac O’Neill, he summed up the following about the final projects of 2017:

„Cannes is where some of our biggest projects in 2017 took place, but also the ones people know the least about. Situated on the sunny Côte d’Azur in the south-east of France, it’s no wonder that it is host to some of the biggest but also some of the lowest profile events in the world. Our local Côte d’Azur crew is always up to the task and assisted throughout the year on many of these low key operations. Confidentiality, honesty and diplomacy, as well as fluency in English and a high level of professionalism were just what the doctor ordered“

Many smiles and long working days were shared throughout 2017 and we now move confidently into the New Year. After expanding our crew in the South France-region and setting up a new department hiring highly-qualified crew in Cannes last year, our regional manager Cormac O‘Neill runs a tight ship, providing project management and able workers in a bright working environment.

Stagehands.net possess a strong team of French- and English-speaking crew ready to offer you excellent service and contribute a fastpaced, skilled team for your project today.

Stagehands.net and Friends; Caught In The Rain

With IFA coming to Berlin, the end of summer is always a busy time for the Stagehands.net team. The action kicked off a little early this year with Samsung’s IFA 2017 press conference in the Tempodrom arena a week ahead of the main exhibition.

The invite-only event showcased some of Samsung’s latest technologies to various members of the press and the tech community, highlights including new smart phones and smart watches, to be displayed at IFA. Don’t worry if you missed your invite, it was also live-streamed all over the internet.
Check out all our hard work there!

The stagehands.net crew were enlisted by UK Company Smyle to help with the heavy lifting and technical gadgets for the show. There was a lot of heavy lifting to be done and a lot of technical gadgets to be set up, but the usual mix of team work and hard work got the job done.

The de-rig proved particularly challenging with a heavy down poor impeding the crew on the last day. After losing some furniture to the rain, a few extra trips had to be made to the skip (large garbage container for all you none English readers). A mention to the Crewchief and production managers on both sides needs to be made for keeping the workforce organised and moving. Even the simplest task can turn into a disaster if you don’t have a good leader, 45 crew members, 3 tonnes of wood and a torrential downpour to deal with.

It was all Smyles in the end 😉

Stagehands.net takes the Plunge in Barcelona

The 19th ESMO World Congress took place in Barcelona last week, the world’s leading global event in gastrointestinal cancer. Stagehands.net received a request for hands to help assemble an unusual and interesting sculpture for one of the exhibitors.

The giant goats head, consisting of 10,000 ping pong balls, was created by Plunge Creations, a creative design and prop making company from Sussex in the UK. Plunge are a regular partner of stagehand.net when they come to the continent and they been responsible for some incredible builds over the years, including a giant dinosaur made of crumpets and a life size chocolate Thomas the Tank Engine to name but a few!

Two of the crew met with Plunge in Barcelona to help display the sculpture at the International Convention Centre. Some careful maundering and some delicate hands where needed to set the sculpture up which then stood for the duration of the exhibition. Thankfully nobody dropped the ball(s) and the set up was a smooth success… because picking up 10,000 balls would really get my goat.

New Friends For Stagehands.net In Luxembourg

Thanks to a new partnership, stagehands.net is happy to announce the inclusion of Luxembourg into the list of countries you can book event crew in!

There has always been a strong network in the area; with connections in all three neighboring countries we have always been able to accommodate projects for Luxembourg, often transporting crew from Metz, Bastogne and even Frankfurt!
But now it’s easier than ever before, with lower travel cost, more hands available and that ever-so-important, local venue knowledge, organizers can now staff any event, stress free.

We all know Luxembourg is one of Europe’s smallest countries, with a population of around 560,000, you might be surprised to learn the country hosts thousands of public events annually; Music festivals, trade shows, marathons, the tour de Luxembourg, iron man, agricultural fairs, gay pride, balloon festivals…the list goes on and on and they all need event crew.
If you are organizing one of these events or any of the countless other events in Luxembourg, reach out to us for a quote!
